Test cricket has been around for over a century, and in that time, we have seen some of the greatest bowlers to have ever graced the cricket field. The art of bowling is an integral part of the game, and the bowlers who have achieved the most wickets in test cricket history are some of the all-time greats. 

Dennis Lillee - Australia

Dennis Lillee is widely regarded as one of the greatest bowlers in cricket history. He is also one of the most successful Test cricketers ever, having taken 355 wickets in 70 Tests. He was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame in 2009.

Lillee was a consistent and fast bowler for Australia for several years and was the first to be selected for every Test match. His bowling style often caught batsmen off guard, as he possessed a combination of raw pace and guile. 

Glenn McGrath - Australia

One of the greatest bowlers in cricket history, Glenn McGrath is one of Australia’s greatest all-time bowlers. From 1993 to 2007, McGrath played for Australia in 124 Test matches and collected a whopping 563 wickets. He was most renowned for his accuracy and consistency, and his ability to take wickets with the new ball, often in the first 10 overs of an innings.

McGrath’s career began in 1993, when he made his international debut against New Zealand. He made an immediate impact, taking seven wickets in the match, including a five-wicket haul in the second innings. 

Shane Warne - Australia

One of the most decorated bowlers of all time, Shane Warne of Australia is certainly a name that stands out among the best bowlers in Test cricket history. Warne was known for his ability to spin the ball, as well as his control and accuracy with both his stock deliveries and various variations.

Warne debuted for Australia in 1992 and went on to have a remarkable career. He took 708 wickets in 145 Test matches, making him the third highest wicket-taker of all time. He had a bowling average of 25.41, one of the best among the top 10 wicket-takers, and a bowling strike rate of 57.4 which is very impressive.

Courtney Walsh - West Indies

Courtney Walsh is one of the most successful bowlers in Test Cricket history. He was born in Jamaica and played for the West Indies cricket team from 1984 to 2001. He is known for his fast and accurate bowling that made him one of the most feared bowlers in the world.

Walsh took 519 wickets in his test career, the highest number of wickets by any bowler in the history of Test cricket at the time of his retirement. He is also the only bowler to have taken 500+ wickets in Test Cricket and to have bowled over 12,000 deliveries.

Kapil Dev - India

Kapil Dev is considered one of the greatest bowlers in the history of cricket, and certainly one of the best from India. His career spanned from 1978 to 1994, and in that time he took a total of 434 wickets in Test matches, the third most by any bowler in the world. 

Kapil was known for his devastating spells of fast bowling, earning him the nickname "Haryana Hurricane". He also had great control and accuracy, making him a fearsome opponent for any batsman.
